Have you ever been to DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba, Japan?
It is there where the mobile suit Gundam 1/1 RX-78-2 Ver. GFT stands. JapanTravel.com stated that this life sized statue is being lit up from 5PM to 11PM everyday, with steams coming out from its chest exhausts. at 7:30PM, 8:30PM and 9:30PM daily, the 11-minute video called Gundam Stand at Jaburo features the Gundam displaying some skills against the 105x37 feet backdrop projected on the DiverCity Tokyo wall behind the Gundam.
July 2009
The RX-78-2 Gundam Life-size (1:1 Scale) Statue first stood in Shiokase Park in Odaiba Island for the 30th Anniversary of the Gundam Series.
September 2009
It was taken down due to maintenance cost
July 2010 - March 2011
The statue has been re-erected (and it is then holding a beam saber) in the city of Shizuoka - the home of Bandai's plastic model factories.
August 2011
The statue has been returned to Tokyo in disassembled parts as a charity drive from fans after the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake disaster.
April 2012
RX 78-2 was finally rebuilt in front of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza Mall.
Since I haven't been to this place, I can only screen-grabbed a few images from Google Maps. But if you'd like to see some zoomed images which displayed very detailed Gundam photos, you can visit FabriceRequin's blog post or Muza-chan's Gate to Japan's post.
