If you are new at blogging, or would like to start customizing your Blogger template to the next level (XML editor), then one thing should be considered first — backing up your original template file.
Step by Step: How to Back Up or Restore Blogger's XML TemplateWhether you are new at coding or not, it is very important to back up your template (in .xml file format) so that when you accidentally broke the codes or unintentionally deleted some essential tags, you can always revert it back to the original, unedited template.
Backing up the template is pretty easy - with just a few clicks and save.
How to Back Up the Template1. On your Blogger dashboard, go to Template > Back/Restore (upper right corner)
- A pop-up window will open. Click the Download full template button.
- The XML file (example: template-3626078447313272768.xml) will be saved automatically to your computer's Downloads folder.
How to Restore the Template2. On your Blogger dashboard, go to Template > Back/Restore (upper right corner)
- A pop-up window will open. Click the Choose file button and select the back up file from your folder.
- Click upload and wait until the blog reloads.
